Your adviser and the Securo programme

For clients of advice firms on the Securo programme: what is happening, what changes for you, and who to contact.

What is happening

Your adviser’s firm has joined a programme called Securo, run by Equity & General Financial Services Limited. Equity & General is a financial advice firm that has looked after private clients since 1997 and is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (number 474163).

Equity & General now handles the administration, the paperwork and the regulatory side of your adviser’s business, so your adviser can spend more of their time advising. Over the next few years, at a pace they control, they will introduce you to the adviser who will look after you when they retire.

What changes for you

Your adviser stays your adviser

For as long as they are working.

You meet your next adviser early

In person, with both advisers in the room, while your current adviser is still there.

Your investments stay where they are

Any change would need its own reason and would be discussed with you as normal.

Your fees stay the same

If anything about what you pay ever changes, your adviser will tell you before it happens.

Why your adviser has joined

Running a regulated financial advice business takes time away from clients: compliance, reporting, insurance and technology. Handing that work to a larger firm gives your adviser that time back.

When an advice business is sold outright, clients can first hear about the new adviser by letter. Your adviser has chosen a gradual arrangement so that when they retire, the person looking after you is someone you already know.

Questions clients ask

Do I need to do anything?

Your adviser will keep in touch with you as usual. There is nothing you need to do.

Is my money safe?

Your investments are held as they were, with the same providers. What changes is the firm that supports your adviser’s business.

What if I do not get on with the new adviser?

Tell your current adviser early. The introductions happen over a period, while your current adviser is still working, so there is time to put it right.

Who do I contact if something is wrong?

Your adviser, as usual. To raise something with Equity & General directly, write to 2 Charterhouse Mews, London, EC1M 6BB, or call 020 8396 0486.
